    Interview Summary
    Izrail Frenkel, born on January 12, 1913 in Odessa, Ukraine, discusses his visits to Odessa postwar and the lack of monuments for Jewish victims of the Holocaust; the Romanian occupation as told to him by survivors; working at an artillery plant in Podolsk, Moscow from 1939 to 1944; working as a mechanical engineer in the Ural mountains during the war; the murder of his father, family, and friends in Odessa; living in Moscow from 1943 to 1949; immigrating to the United States in 1949; returning to Odessa postwar to find his father's grave; and witnessing and photographing conditions of sites of massacres.
