    Interview Summary
    Helen Gelb (née Berko), born on June 14, 1921 in Onok, Czechoslovakia (now Ukraine), discusses the Hungarians selecting her brother for forced labor in 1938; living in Munkacs ghetto for three weeks in 1944; her deportation to Auschwitz concentration camp in April 1944; the train ride, atrocities, and arrival; the death of her family; internment in P?aszów (near Krakow) with her cousin for approximately three months; returning to Auschwitz in 1944; internment in Markkleeberg labor camp (near Leipzig) until April 1945; making parts for airplanes; the death march to Theresienstadt concentration camp; liberation by the Soviets on May 4, 1945; living in Terezin displaced persons camp; returning home; reuniting with her brother in Budapest on the way home; living in Karlsbad, Czechoslovakia postwar; meeting and marrying her husband; and immigrating to the United States on May 18, 1948.
