    Harry Mermelstein, born in 1917 in Koshalovo (possibly Krychovo), Czechoslovakia, discusses being the son of a Czech rabbi; serving as a chaplain in the Czech army for six months in 1938; his internment in Khust ghetto from 1939 to 1944; his internment in Auschwitz concentration camps for four weeks; his internment in multiple camps including Flossenbürg and Buchenwald; living in Gabersee displaced persons camp postwar from 1946 to 1948; and immigrating to the United States in 1949.

    The Gratz College Holocaust Oral History Archive donated the interview to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2017. The interview was recorded for the American Gathering of Holocaust Survivors in 1985.
