    Henry Rappaport, born on June 1, 1919 in Rzeszów, Poland, discusses his deportation by the Russians to Kotlas in northern Siberia; joining the Polish army as a "converted" Jew through a non-Jewish friend in the Polish government-in-exile; serving at multiple sites in the USSR, North Africa, and Italy; getting wounded; his hospitalization in Taranto; living in Bologna until the end of war; going to Naples; traveling to Scotand, Wales and England; demobilizing from the army; traveling to Haifa via Liverpool in 1948; serving in the Israeli merchant marines; transporting Jewish refugees from Africa, India, and Europe; and immigrating to the United States in 1954.
