    Interview Summary
    Sam Shatz, born on October 10, 1925 in Bi?goraj, Poland, discusses fleeing to the USSR after the German invasion of Poland; being sent further east to hard labor in Siberian coal mines from 1941 to 1945; returning to Warsaw to search for his family postwar; not finding any of his family; joining 450 chalutzim in Austria; going to the ship Exodus in Italy; being sent to Cyprus from 1947 to 1949; serving in the Israeli navy from 1949 to 1951; and immigrating to the United States in 1955.
