    Interview Summary
    Mark Weinberg, born on February 17, 1912 in Warsaw, Poland, discusses fighting in the Polish army; the Warsaw ghetto; not having papers, enabling him to smuggle out people and to trade; being caught on the non-ghetto side; deportation as a Christian Pole to a labor camp in Vienna; his involvment in communicating to the resistance and sabotage; attempting suicide; being evaluated by anthropologists and "proved" to be a non-Jew; escaping selection; internment in Oranienburg and Sachsenhausen in Germany; hiding among dead bodies at Dachau as Germans fled; liberation; living in Landsberg am Lech postwar; and immigrating to the United States on August 3, 1951.

    The Gratz College Holocaust Oral History Archive donated the interview to the United States Holocaust Memorial Museum in 2017. The interview was recorded for the American Gathering of Holocaust Survivors in 1985.
