    Interview Summary
    Helen Kazman Weiss (née Trufelman), born on June 16, 1926 in Starachowice, Poland, discusses her father immigrating to Argentina in 1928; the rest of her family moving in with an aunt in Klimontów; deportation via trucks to Skarzysko at the end 1941; internment in Skarzysko from 1941 until the end of 1944; forced labor weighing powder; getting sick from the chemicals; switching to a better area and getting healthier; witnessing German atrocities; deportation to Buchenwald at the end of 1944; conditions and food; a trip to the sick ward and escaping death; two Jewish prisoners helping her; a forced march in the spring of 1945; the Germans fleeing; wandering to an area near the Elbe river with three others; escaping rape by Soviet soldiers; witnessing the aftermath of the rape of her three friends by the Soviet soldiers; returning to Poland; finding the husband of a woman she was with in Buchenwald who took her in; working in his restaurant in Stuttgart, Germany postwar; and immigrating to the United States in 1949.
