    Interview Summary
    Margit Zapletal (née Weiss), born on December 14, 1916 in Nitra, Czechoslovakia, discusses her family’s deportation to a camp in 1942; her release as a Mischling spouse until 1944; paying for papers; her deportation with her husband to Auschwitz when she was two months pregnant; being separated from her husband; working in a nearby forest hauling wood on her shoulders from October 1944 to January 1945; a forced march in January 1945; liberation by the Soviets on February 1, 1945; giving birth to a healthy son in May 1945; reuniting with her husband; returning to Czechoslovakia; and immigrating to the United States in 1967.
