    Abba Kovner, born on March 14, 1918, in Ashmyany, Poland (present-day Belarus) discusses his family and early life; the Vilna ghetto; his role as a Vilna partisan leader during the war; the formation of the Brichah movement postwar; serving as a captain in the Givati Brigade in the Israel Defense Forces during the 1948 Arab–Israeli War; designing the Beit Hatefutsoth permanent exhibition; and his poetry. Husband of Vitka Kempner Kovner.Vitka Kovner (née Kempner), born on March 14, 1920 in Kalisz, Poland discusses the Vilna ghetto and her role as a partisan leader during the war. Wife of Abba Kovner.
